Our heritage

Purveyors to the Royal Court of Saxony

Silbermann is shaped by a long family history. In 1870, the ancestors of the family who run the business today were appointed Purveyors to the Royal Court of Saxony - an honour that continues to influence the standards upheld by the family.

More than a formal title, this appointment carried a clear responsibility: to choose with care and to meet the highest expectations. Over time, this approach developed into a trained eye for quality, materials and style - one that continues to define Silbermann today.

In the heart of Dresden, Silbermann now presents a carefully selected range of international designers and established brands for both, women and men across 1,000 square metres.

The history of Silbermann

The Silbermann family & Dresden

The name Silbermann, too, has long been associated with Dresden. The family’s history reaches back to 18th-century Freiberg in Saxony, where Gottfried Silbermann built his renowned Silbermann organs. This tradition of precision and cultural ambition continues to form part of the house's identity.

Monika Posch-Silbermann is a direct descendant of Carl Ernst Mey, founder of the Leipzig-based renowned retailer Mey & Edlich and an early pioneer of mail-order fashion in Germany. An entrepreneurial spirit, openness to innovation and a commitment to quality remain values that continue to shape the family’s outlook today.
